Can You Really Make Money Online?

There seems to be obstacles in the way at every juncture. I don't think you will ever make money from things like google adsense. The number of hits you need on your web page to get a small proportion to click on an ad and then only to get a few pence per click, well, enough said.
Affiliate marketing is the only way you can make any kind of decent money and the only way to do that is via pay per click advertising. This is a delicate balance of getting the right return against the outlay. You will be lucky to make £150 profit per month per product. In theory if you have 10 products you could make £1500 or 100 products £15000, sounds good doesn't it. But in reality if you find one product you are doing well. It can easily cost you hundreds of pounds in setting up 'Landing' pages for products that ultimately fail.
Don't get drawn in by these so called Internet Marketers, they are the only ones that make the money out of people daft enough to believe the bull they tell you.

E-mail Marketing Mania

E-mail marketing is exactly what the name indicates: it is when one advertises ones product and communicates ones ideas by sending e-mails to prospective clients. The purpose is that of normal advertising: to acquire a larger client base and to enhance the relationship and strengthen loyalty between company and client. One will find that companies often attach conventional advertisement documents to e-mails in order to convey the business' message. Millions of rands are spent every year on e-mail marketing, because in todays technological society, it is one of the most effective methods of getting ones company known.

The main advantage of e-mail marketing is the large amount of people it can reach, because unlike poster or magazine advertising, e-mail adverts are directed towards individuals instead of random groups. It is also a much more economic way to make ones business known, because printing and spreading costs are drastically reduced.

However, e-mail marketing does not come without its share of disadvantages. More than 20% of advertising e-mails get rejected due to "spam" control on internet systems and one never has the guarantee that an e-mail message will reach the targeted customer. When a company, however, complies with its countries Internet policies and spam laws, this risk is reduced.

An easier way to get these e-mails to customers is by using permission-based marketing, where a customer has previously given consent to receive e-mails from a company and where the option of "opting out" of receiving e-mail advertisements is made possible to the customer. This leads to less e-mails being sent to spam boxes, because the system is notified that the customer wants to receive the messages.

When making use of e-mail marketing, a company has to comply with many legal requirements. This not only ensures proper marketing, but it increases reliability and trustworthiness of an organization. For example, if a company does not follow the Directive on Privacy and Electronic Communications or the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, it could be fined or prohibited from using e-mails for marketing purposes. These directives, as well as the Coalition Against Unsolicited Commercial E-mail (CAUCE) protects customers by declaring their personal information out of bounds and limiting e-mail advertising.

Many companies make use of this service not only to obtain new customers, but to ensure current customer loyalty. Most companies will send notification, information and event invitations through e-mails to existing customers to keep them aware of the company's presence and mission. Customers consent to these e-mails and thus the information successfully reaches the targeted customer. New automated e-mail marketing devices make it possible for a company to not have to manually send e-mails to each customer. This marketing method makes it easier for a company to communicate with existing and prospective clients and it creates a personal relationship with each customer, thus strengthening loyalty.

How to Get Traffic to Your Blog

When you say that you want traffic to your blog aren't you really saying that you want your blog to become popular? Unless you are building spam sites (which I hope you aren't) then you are probably trying to create a blog that will get regular readers. You want these readers to come back to your site periodically. You also want them to recommend it to other people so that it gains momentum on its own.

I know you think you already know this, but you probably don't. If you want a blog to grow, you have got to provide a real benefit to the visitor. Otherwise that traffic is going to only happen one time. You will constantly need to find new ways to drive more traffic to your website.

Provide a rare benefit and the site will retain visitors. That benefit might be some valuable information that is hard to find elsewhere. That benefit might be the same information that people can find elsewhere delivered in a special way by you that makes them want to get it from you instead of somebody else. This simple truth is overlooked by the vast majority of bloggers.

Most bloggers will talk about everything and anything and expect other people to want to stick around to read what they have to say. New bloggers think too highly of themselves. Most blogs really aren't that interesting. They are boring. People aren't going to follow most new bloggers unless those people are following the blogger for a different reason. Celebrities are a prime example of the type of people who can successfully operate boring blogs.

You aren't a celebrity. So, don't expect people to automatically want to read what you have to say. You have got to talk about something that they are really interested in so that you get their attention. You then have to deliver very useful information or deliver something else in such a way that the reader will be hooked.

Instead of focusing on how you are going to get traffic to your blog, you should focus on what benefit your visitors are going to get by visiting. If that benefit is strong enough, those visitors will not only stick, they will also tell their friends about it. Then you will get all the free traffic you could hope for without having to sell your soul to get it.

People like Matt Cutts over at Google have been telling you that you need to focus on quality. What they are really saying is that you need to focus on building a website that people want to visit on their own accord. If you have to force people to go there, you have a broken business model. Your site needs to be good enough so that people will want to stick around and get as much out of it as possible. Then traffic will grow all by itself after using anyone of many well known and simple promotional methods.

Easy Profits Using a Pay Per Click Affiliate Program

A pay per click affiliate program is one of the four basic affiliate marketing methods. A pay per click affiliate program is a very targeted and cost effective way to advertise. According to Forbes magazine, pay per click affiliate programs account for 8 billion dollars a year and is expected to increase to more than 10 billion in the next 5 years.

Let us take a quick look at how a they works

You create an ad, search terms or keywords that you want your ad to show up for and submit these to a search engine along with a link to your offer, blog, or web page. Then you enter the maximum amount of money you are willing to pay for each click that your ad will receive. When someone clicks on your ad they will be taken to the web page contained in the link

The highest bidder will get first place for their ad in the pay per click affiliate program followed the other bidders in the order of their bids. If there are more bidders than spots on the page the lowest bidders ads will not show. So, your ads will show according to the search terms or keywords you entered when you made your ad and the amount you bid for each click.

How do you make money by using PPC into your affiliate marketing business?

You can advertise affiliate offers using a pay per click affiliate program and send potential customers to company sales pages, blogs, squeeze pages and other offers. Some programs, such as those run by Google, have stringent quality controls and you need to be familiar with their guidelines before submitting ads.

Adding PPC can increase your return on investment significantly if it is run correctly and it is the least labor intensive of all the affiliate methods. When a customer clicks on your ad and then buys a product or performs some pre-agreed upon action you will get paid. Some of the commissions are up to 75% of the gross purchase price.

If you build a review site or a review blog that reviews products in a given niche you can use a PPC to drive traffic to your site. If you give good information on your site you will build up a reputation and people will start coming back for more. It is not hard to imagine a full time living coming from just one or two sites using pay per click affiliate program.

Using a pay per click affiliate program will also help your site rise in the natural listings of the search engine and if you re-invest your profits into the your business you can grow your business very fast.

What to Look For When it Comes to Promoting ClickBank Products

There are thousands of products to choose from in the ClickBank marketplace and sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming when it comes to choosing a good one that will make you money.

In addition to the myriad of products that are currently listed on ClickBank, everyday more are added widening the amount of choices even further.

So what should you look for when it comes to promoting ClickBank products?

One of the first things you need to look for is a demand in the market your thinking about promoting to.

This can be figured out in one of two ways:

1. Keyword research
2. Gravity rating

Depending on the topic that the product is catering to you can input associated keywords into Google's free keyword tool and get an idea as to how many searches are being conducted on a daily basis for in connection with the topic.

The other way you can quickly determine the market demand for the product is by looking at the "grav" rating the product is given in ClickBank.

If the gravity of a particular product is high, i.e. 100+, then it's a good bet that people want it.

Another thing to look for is a good salesletter that flows well and hits the hot buttons of your market with a strong close at the order button.

When you read the copy are you enticed enough to buy the product? If so your market will be also.

A very important element to watch out for are...

Affiliate leaks.

Are there any links other than the buy button that could prevent your prospect from purchasing the product and perhaps cost you the sale?

Links that lead off into other places on a sales page should immediately draw up a red flag and it's in your best interest not waste your time.

How to Create a Blog That Earns You Money

Creating a blog that earns you money is easy with Google. You can use your knowledge or life experience to create original content that can drive traffic to your blog and earn you ad revenue.

Here's an overview of what you will need to get started:

A Computer with an internet connection (duh)
A Google Account
A new blog on blogger.com
Your name address and a phone number (to get paid)
A credit card to purchase your own domain name (optional)
A subject to blog about

Step 0: Create Your Google Account

Many of you might already have an account with Google. If you do, skip to step #1.

You will need a Google account in order to use blogger.com as well as sign up for AdSense - Google's advertising service. To sign up visit google.com/accounts, once you've got your account you're ready to get started.

Step 1: Creating a blog on Blogger.com

The way that you will make money is by hosting ads on your blog with Google AdSense. To create a blog, visit blogger.com and sign up and create a new blog.
Before you get started, make sure you've picked a theme you will be blogging about, I chose to blog about making things work, computer tutorials and such. You can blog about anything that interests you. This is important and will keep you coming back to create more content (making you more money).
Create your new blog. Make sure to give it a name that will be memorable both to you and your visitors. You will want the name to be related to what you're blogging about.
Choose your template. The really doesn't matter all that much choose something your visitors will be able to read easily.
Finish creating your new blog and visit your settings.

Step 2: Using a custom domain with your new blog (Optional)

If you would like to go the free route, skip to step 3. If you're interested in purchasing a domain name to go with your new blog continue on.

Adding a custom domain to your blog can add an additional level of trust and professionalism for your visitors. If you will be directing people to your website (and not just search engine visitors), you will want an easy to remember domain. You can sign up for a new domain without ever leaving the blogger web page.
Under the publishing tab in your blog settings, select the "custom domain" option.
You will be taken to a page where you can select your unique domain name (make it memorable!).
Purchase your domain name and link it to your blog. You will be using Google checkout to sign up and pay for your domain. Currently domains are $10 a year, a great price.
Once you are done linking your blog to your new domain, get your new blog monetized so you can make some money. Note, your new domain will day a few days to become active, you can still visit our blog through the standard blogger address until then.

Step 3: Create your content!

You will never make any money on your blog unless you have content for your visitors to read. So get creating. Here are a few tips,

Write often. If you're new to blogging set aside a few hours a week to create new blogs. You can even hammer out several blogs at the same time and set blogger to publish them at a later date.
Make your content interesting with pictures. Add images in your blog posts to illustrate what you're talking about. You can even embed videos from sites like youtube.com.
Advertise your blog to your friends and through social networks like Facebook and Twitter. The more people that view your blog, the more ad revenue you will be able to accumulate.
Link to similar blogs with a sidebar widget. Sometimes you can get the attention of other bloggers and they will add you to their blogroll. This sends more traffic to your blog.
Find a niche. Try and think of content that you can create that will be something others are searching for. Even better if there is not a lot of blogs or websites about your topic.

Step 4: Monetizing Your Blog with Google AdSense

Now we are going to set up your blog to make some money! The way Google AdSense works is that it scans your blog content for key words and uses them to generate text and image ads based on your content. When visitors stumble upon your blog and click on your ads, you make money (and no, you can't make money by clicking your own ads or getting others to do it for you, Google will find out and you won't get paid).

In your blogger settings, visit the "Monetize" tab. You will be asked to create a Google AdSense account. Follow the tutorial to create your account. You will need to enter your name and address so Google will know where to send the check.
After you have successfully created and linked your AdSense account to your blog, you will be able to choose where to place the ads on your blog.
Once you have selected where to place your adds, you can also set up ads in your website feed (RSS feed) and use Amazon's Associates program to make even more cash.
If you are starting your blog from scratch, you will need to have a considerable amount of content to get started, Google needs context before it can place ads on your site.
After you submit your request, it will take a few days to get your Google AdWords working on your blog, so keep writing those posts.

That's it but you're not done. Keep learning! There are lots of tutorials available online that will teach you have to better optimize your blogger blog to make even more money.

My name is Erik Pasco, and I'm a nerd. It's true, at least that's what my closest friends tell me. I'm not one of those nerds with the high pants and the taped up glasses, but I just know (way) too much about computers and technology for my own good I guess.

My website http://www.makemystuffwork.net is an attempt to help others out using my (previously) useless knowledge. If you need to make something of yours work, be it an iPod or a computer program, I've probably already helped someone with that before and I have written (or will write) a tutorial for it.

If this article has helped you, feel free to post a comment on the original here: http://www.makemystuffwork.net/2010/05/how-to-create-blog-that-earns-you-money.html

Let me know if you need me to drop some knowledge on you, I promise I probably just will search Google for my answer anyways.

How to Get Free Traffic to Your Blog Or Website

You don't have to spend advertising money to promote your website. There are ways to generate the right market traffic to your commercial site without spending a dime, except some internet bandwidth and time to work on the options to get your site promoted and reach the widest awareness to your intended markets. Here are some things to do.

Search Optimize Your Site

Savvy website owners love to analyze what makes a popular website tick and copy everything that makes them land on the first page of a Google search result. If you plan to make it big with your website, investing on a professional service to search optimize your site can be the best investment you can make. There are on-page HTML techniques such as getting the right keywords on your text bodies as well as the Meta Tags on all your pages than can make your page optimized.

Improve your Site Ranking

Search optimization is best done by giving your site or any of its pages a high page rank which is what Google bases its algorithm in displaying the URLs on its result pages. You need some off-page technique and one of the most commonly used is getting links within your pages as well as link from related websites that also have high page ranks.

You can start by contacting website administrators of established websites to get some keywords on their sites linked to your site. The deal is often reciprocal so that their sites get linked from yours. You can also participate in online forums, communities and Usenet groups including Yahoo and Google Groups that have relevance to what you are offering in your website. But you often have to be subtle about it and not be seen as spamming in these groups and forums.

You can just add your website URL as part of your membership avatar or signature and never actively promote your site unless your posted content opens the opportunity. Just be sure the forums you are joining have nothing against your site as any bad comment about your site can work against it in the online community.

One other way to get links to your main site is to get as many blogs refer to it. In the same way that you contact webmasters of established sites to get them to link to your site, you can contact blog owners to promote your site simply by mentioning it in their posts. Just be sure their blog sites have some relevance to your site.

Social Presence

Apart from those forums and groups, having a social networking presence in Twitter and Facebook can be a boost to your site with mutual links to each other. It's not uncommon to see products and brands have their respective Twitter sites that promote not only their products but also their online presences.

Lastly, don't forget about your friends, family members, neighbors and business associates. Your business card is about your contact and your website is now a mandatory part of any. If you have a lot of emails and correspondences routinely sent out, don't forget to put your website as part of your signature.
